4 timeless lines from Rumi on becoming who you really are

I came across a four-line poem by Rumi recently, and I haven’t been able to stop thinking about it.

Show notes

I came across a four-line poem by Rumi recently, and I haven’t been able to stop thinking about it.

Walk before the path appears. Become nothing to find your true being. Make yourself small, and the world won’t be big enough to contain you.

The more I sat with those contradictions, the more I realized they were asking something uncomfortable: what if the identity you built to understand yourself has become something you need to protect?

This ended up being a thread about clarity, ambition, status, personal growth, and the question beneath all of it: who are you when nobody is around to impress?
